Dermaplaning and shaving are two completely different services, with different tools to achieve
different goals! While they both involve the use of a blade moving across the skin, that is the
only commonality they share! A shaving blade can only shave the face. A dermaplaning blade
(in the hands of a trained professional) exfoliates the face.
What is dermaplaning?

Think of dermaplaning as the intersection between standard shaving and exfoliation.
In addition to removing the vellus hair — a.k.a. soft peach fuzz — the treatment also removes the very top layers of dead skin cells via a carefully angled surgical blade.
It is next to impossible to really and truly dermaplane one’s own face! We are not
contortionists. We cannot hold the skin taught enough on our own faces (the proper way to Dermaplane)
A Professional dermaplaning removes dirt and oil buildup in your hair follicles, which often
occurs if you have excess hair on your face.
Dermaplaning provides much better exfoliation than shaving does.”
Folks who are using the tools being touted on the home shopping channels and infomercials to
‘dermaplane’ themselves at home, are simply doing a glorified shave. The vellus hair is removed,
but the dead skin remains!
In summary Professional Dermaplaning is much more meticulous and up-close than shaving. It’s
safer, gentle and creates that beautiful glow we crave. The two cannot be compared.
